Student Success

As a college-prep focused program, Suncoast STEAM provides the education and support to get students to where they want to go. There is nothing more rewarding for the entire Suncoast STEAM community than seeing students accepted to their college of choice. Teachers, staff, and parents are proud of the hard work and dedication that goes into achieving lofty academic goals.

Most Suncoast STEAM graduates end up going to either a community college or four-year university. This year’s graduates will be moving on to UC San Diego, San Diego State, Cal State San Marcos, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, and the University of Texas.

The benefits of using digital tools in concert with hands-on learning are that they can close the academic achievement gap, as seen in these achievements:

  • 95% student participation in state testing
  • 97% average daily attendance (for independent study, based on work product
  • Students consistently meet graduation rate targets
  • Students consistently meet ELA and math proficiency goals

We are proud to announce that our student Sadia Abdirahim has won the Susan Steelman Bragato Scholarship for the school year of 2020-2021, congratulations Sadia!

The scholarship is named in honor of Susan Steelman Bragato, the co-founder of the first charter school in California and the founder of the California Network of Educational Charters (which was renamed the California Charter Schools Association in 2003). Sue was one of the first people to recognize the importance of building a strong network of support among charter school leaders statewide. In honor of her unprecedented contribution to the charter school movement, the Association named this scholarship for her.

This scholarship is awarded to ten graduating seniors from a charter high school that is a member of the California Charter Schools Association. This scholarship is intended to help students reach their educational goals and can be applied toward any education-related costs.
